The Workshop

Not just for the comedically challenged, this two day scene study weekend intensive is designed for all experienced actors that want to strengthen their ability to play comedy.

Facilitated by professional actor Michael Kostroff (The Wire, Luke Cage, Louie) actors will spend the weekend discussing the theory of what it is that makes things funny, working on the technique of approaching comedic material by way of some very familiar concepts: objectives, obstacles, relationships, stakes, and truth – and putting it all together by working on comedic scenes.

Reality Curve Theatre is a registered not for profit, with proceeds from this workshop going directly towards funding our 2017-2018 season.

Michael Kostroff

Michael Kostroff is an established, NYC-based film, TV, and stage actor, best known for his five seasons as Maurice “Maury” Levy on HBO’s completely unfunny hit series, The Wire. Most recently, Michael starred opposite Robert De Niro in HBO’s Wizard of Lies.

More comedically, he’s appeared on Louie, Deadbeat, and Sonny with a Chance and toured the U.S. with The Producers and Les Misérables. He’s a director, an audition coach, and the creator of the Audition Psych 101 workshop. This is Michael’s second visit to Vancouver to teach with us.
