This full-day workshop and seminar is designed to provide actors with new tools and insights into the audition process. Presented by established working actors, casting directors, and producers – the workshop will be grounded in common-sense, logic, provable realities, practicable techniques, and professional experience.
The day will begin with Audition Psych 101, a workshop presented by NYC-based actor Michael Kostroff (The Wire, The Deuce, Luke Cage). Michael will deconstruct the ideas that make actors feel scared, nervous, insecure, discouraged, and unworthy, explore some of those strange, illogical actor mythologies, and consider fresh ideas and practical techniques for making auditions much more enjoyable and successful.
The day will continue with a discussion and Q&A with casting director Corinne Clark (Deadpool, Star Trek Beyond, Fear the Walking Dead) who will discuss the audition process as viewed from the other side of the casting table, offering her unique perspective.
Next up director, writer and producer Robert C. Cooper (Stargate, Dirk Gently, Unspeakable) will offer insights into auditioning from the perspective of a show-runner/producer and director. A rare opportunity to learn more about what producers/directors are thinking and looking for at call-backs.
The day will end with an industry panel where actors Rekha Sharma (Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: Discovery), Christopher Heyerdahl (Van Helsing, True Blood, Sicario: Day of the Soldado) and Emily Haine (Fargo, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) will discuss their audition experiences, strategies, and approaches.
